It is 1) Dalton, 2) Unga, and 3) Hall. Hall has better stats than Dalton, but they are not quite good enough to make up for the way that Dalton outplayed Hall in the BYU-TCU game.As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression

I am just curious as to why you have Unga #2? Wide has been more impressive in conference games and has the numbers to prove it:
Wide: 106.3 yards per game, 5.8 yards per carry, 8 touchdowns
Unga: 100.2 yards per game, 5.2 yards per carry, 7 touchdowns
With that said, I think it goes to Dalton.

Best individual player? Best player on the best team? Some combination of the two?

If TCU wasn't playing as good as they are this year, I could see Hall getting the award. But it generally goes to the leader of the best team."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

Not buying that argument. So, why not compare how Wide did against the Lobos vs. what Unga did against the Lobos? Wide has more touchdowns, more total rushing yards and a better average per carry (10% higher average which is even more impressive when you consider that teams have stocked up against the run knowing that Cain couldn't throw the ball while Unga had an effective passer in Hall). So because Unga had a better game against TCU in a big loss, you ignore Wide having a better overall season than Unga? On top of that, both teams have the same record. Strange argument.
With all that said, I think it goes to Dalton and that is probably the right decision.

Wide's performance in the TCU game is huge because it is the biggest game of the year for the Utes and he was a non-factor. Unga on the other hand did show up in the biggest game of the year. Unga wasn't the reason BYU lost that game, he is probably the only reason it wasn't a bigger blowout. Wide played a huge part in the Utes losing the game to TCU.
I'm actually surprised you aren't pushing Unga for OPOY over Dalton. As I lead this army, make room for mistakes and depression
