  • GameDay is going to TCU

Thought it should get its own thread apart from the Provo thread. Here is ESPN's Graham Watson's tweet:

ESPN College GameDay is heading to Fort Worth this weekend for TCU-Utah! Third time at an MWC game this year. Second TCU game.

Per my review of the schedule, this is the best game of the weekend. I'm glad that our little conference is getting espn respect... Maybe we will go back to those much greener pastures.

In contrast to 3 MWC games, how many Big East games have hosted GameDay this year?

This is great news for the MWC.

It's good that the MWC has kept itself in the discussion every year. If Boise gets snubbed for a BCS bowl, that could be the final straw for them to join the MWC and us getting an auto-bid.

Hopefully all of the ESPN love is an overture that they are going to make a respectable bid for the television rights when the CBS-C contract expires(does anyone know when that is supposed to happen?)

Boise has a pretty good setup in the WAC. Why would they want to trade Nevada for TCU, Fresno State for Utah, Hawaii for BYU, Idaho for Air Force, and so on? And never be on ESPN again until their bowl game in Albuquerque?

Boise is like BYU was in the 1980s, beating up on a WAC of nobodies. How different do you think BYU's 1980s would have been if they were in the Big Eight, SWC, or Pac-10?

That's what I mean. It's easy to get into a BCS game by going undefeated in a crap conference. If that was no longer feasible, yet it was a sure thing to get into a BCS game by simply winning the conference, albeit a tougher conference, they would certainly be well advised to do it.

The Mountain Ten would be a great conference.

The only way we bring in boise st is if we are guaranteed an autobid or if we add two more besides them and go to 12. Those are the only conditions. Houston has a better shot at being part of the conference.

                        They are in Texas (recruiting)
Have a better bowl game in their city we could get.

Please no, not Houston. I'd rather have Boise. Houston has a good team now and then but they have no following in Houston. None. In a metropolitan area that has over 6 million people, they never fill up their stadium. In fact, against southern mississippi they only have 20,000 in attendance.

Plus they are never on TV in Houston. We get Texas, aTm, Oklahoma, LSU games, but never Houston games. Maybe that is due to their tv contract but nevertheless they have no following.

We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Who will the celebrity picker be? I would guess Bob Schieffer, Luke Wilson, or LaDainian Tomlinson.

Some Kristin Holt girl who is famous for being a finalist in the first American Idol also graduated from TCU.
