I'm assuming these are released albums. I only recognize about 3 or 4 names here.
"Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill

"I only know what I hear on the news." - Dear Leader

I've got a list coming, but it's albums. Been trying to find some time to finish it.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Just to clarify that is a list of songs.

Good list. It did make me realize how out of touch I am with new music coming out, something I'm hoping my new Rhapsody account will fix. That's a good list of suggestions.

I noticed you were brave enough to put an American Idol entry on there. But no Jason Castro? My wife's a huge AI fan, and while I'm not nearly the fan she is, I did think some of his tracks were pretty good and original--Daydream and Hallelujah are two that I remember.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah
            -Berry Trammel, 12/3/10

I have decided I am not too cool for AI. Good music is anywhere you find it and I was really taken with Smithson's voice. I never really dung Castro though. Go figure. I'm sort of all Hallelujahed out at the moment which may have something to do with it. It seems like everyone has covered that song now and it has lost some of its novelty for me over the years.

To each their own. After Jason covered Hallelujah, everyone and their dog did it, or at least I heard it on the radio a whole lot more, so I agree with you that it's been done to death. For me, he was the most interesting voice and style on AI, and really the only one whose album I would consider buying. The songs that I know off your list I like, so I'm definitely going to try the others.

I have a list but I am still in the decision making process. Should be done by the first of the year, hopefully. It will be songs and about 20 of them.

Since I don't buy Albums or CD's any more I find myself listening to less new music then ever before. I hear a song I like and download it on Itunes and I'm done. Before when I bought the CD for a song or an artist I would always find a couple of gems in there that weren't being played on the radio or TV. For me this as been one of the downsides of buying music online. Thanks for the list.

I did notice that. I would post a list of songs, but I never really put together song lists since I'm much more into albums. But I have heard several of the songs on your list since they were on albums I liked

Castro did a good job with the cover, but man he's no Jeff Buckley. I never cared for him on the show or any of last seasons contestants.

I have been out of touch with music for most of the past year and haven't listened to much more than the Chipmunks soundtrack and the latest Mickey Mouse CD we purchased for our daughter cause there are only so many times you can listen to "We're Off to See the World."

I think I am going to have to make a playlist like DDD does for his kids and see if I can't sell my two year old on that because I have had it with the Hockey Pucky as my daughter calls it.

I really dig Silversun Pickups and Lazy Eye. While I was shredding it last night on Guitar Hero Gidget pointed out that I like it cause it sounds like Pumpkins. I think she's right.

I hadn't thought of that, but there is some Pumpkins influence there isn't there? If I ever follow through on my threat to invite you guys up to the Pepper, I will just give you copies of what is on that list if you are interested. It would fit on three CDs. Once my daughter is back to Utah we will have to do that, oh, and I would totally have joined you last Saturday (you had UFC 92 right?) were it not for that same reason. Lets for sure do the next whether it is up here or down there.

Sure thing. I was invited over by a friend to watch it at another friend's home, but with family here we decided not to go. And then on a whim my brother ended up ordering when he got home from work, so it wasn't planned or anything.

I'd love a copy of that list. I have a good friend from college and she'd always give me the latest and greatest off of her playlist. Then I'd give her mine. We have the same tastes but just enough differences that we'd introduce good new music to each other.

The Silversun Pickups debut sounds a lot like the Pumpkins. I've recommended them to Donuthole several times because of that similarity, though I don't know if he ever checked them out.
