  • Utah OC Stripped of Playcalling Duties

Any Ute insiders have any information on the scene after Saturday's game? Apparently Whit was pissed and there was quite a scene. From what I hear, the playcalling duties have been reassigned.

Haven't heard a thing about this. Where did you get this info?

I just talked to Danaconda, and he said that Dave Schramm's duties being reassigned is nowhere on the radar.

Second hand info. A friend of mine has quite a bit of contact with several Ute players. Maybe that would make it third hand info.

          Haven't heard anything about this.

If they need someone to call plays, I've done a pretty good job on NCAA and from my seats in the student section.

I would guess that your friend is trying to impress you by embellishing a bit, or the players were doing the embellishing. I really don't see KW doing that to a first year OC. Besides, there's nobody on the staff that would be reassigned as play caller.

Is there anything in college football in which Danaconda doesn't have inside info? I'm thinking about going to the Fiesta Bowl just for the heck of it. Could you ask him who will be playing in the game in January?

That's what I was thinking. Before the whole moving to Washington fiasco, Roderick was offered Co-Offensive Coordinator, but I don't think he has ever called plays.

I'm not aware of him ever having called plays, but you're correct that he was offered the position of co-OC. My understanding is that he didn't feel ready to be an OC which was why he accepted the spot on Sark's staff.

As for the game against AFA, it seemed more like the lack of execution on the players' part than the game called by Schramm. Missing blocking assignments certainly wasn't Schramm's fault.

Perhaps your second hand info is coming from someone who knows Quinton Ganther, current Washington Redskin. His Head coach and OC Jim Zorn was stripped of his play calling duties recently.

Well, because he thought it was good sport. Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

                      AROD has been a OC

before at SUU, so he has called plays before (although not at Utah). While the OC there the school set several school passing records.

Also he was never offered the OC job at Washington, Sark was always going to call the plays there, so your understanding would be wrong. He looked at that job because Sark is one of his best friends and they have always talked about coaching together.

But I have heard no rumor about Schaam being demoted either.

                        Thanks for the correction, run.

I hope you stick around. You'd be a great addition here.

Was that misspelling intentional? Methinks you just Ludwigged your new OC.

I'm sure it was a typo. Run doesn't play those games.
