  • It's a Wonderful Life

Love the movie; we watched it as a family the other night.

Interesting about how we might affect the lives of others. If George Bailey doesn't exist, his kid brother dies (along with all the troops he would have saved), Mr. Gower becomes a drunk, Uncle Billy rightfully ends up in the nut house, Violet becomes a hooker, Martini's place becomes rough and tumble Nick's, the good old savings and loan goes under along with all the home ownership hopes a dreams of Bedford Falls, Bedford Falls becomes the scum-infested Pottersville, and Mary becomes a . . . . . . Librarian.

    Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

It's a good movie, but like "The Wizard of Oz" I can no longer watch it, as I've seen it too many times.

But you make a good point about how all hell would have broken lose if George didn't exist.

But then, perhaps if George didn't exist, his brother wouldn't have existed as well, because their parents may not have been able to conceive. That doesn't help the rest of the troops, but at least George wouldn't have that on his conscience.

I got it from Netflix the other day to show the kids, and to my horror, my wife admitted to never seeing it.

Yeah, isn't that crazy? My wife saw it for the first time a few years ago. How is that even possible?

I think I'll introduce her to a charming little film called A Christmas Story. Or maybe a tale of redemption known as A Christmas Carol.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

Sometimes when I am looking for something and find it, I will say, "Zuzu's petals!"

My wife has always found that to be endearing.

One of my hidden talents is that I do a mean Jimmy Stewart impersonation, or rather, an impersonation of Dana Carvey doing Jimmy Stewart. Occasionally I'll blurt out something like "Now get outta here Burt or I'll hit you again"! It's usually met by a blank stare.

Thrown on Dark Side. Breathe some new life into it.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

If I liked movies enough to want to make them for a living, I'd do a remake and have George find out that everyone's life would have been better if he never existed.

We discovered the "It's a Wonderful Life - lost ending" clip last night starring Dana Carvey from "most popular" section of the SNL archives. I am not sure how I missed this before. Highly recommended.

Never liked the movie. And George Bailey is an overwrought meddler.

I have also never seen It's a Wonderful Life. I am pretty sure when my MIL found out last week, she was thinking "now I can feel justified not liking her with this very tangible reason."

In fact, last night she made me sit and watch White Christmas (which I loved), because she was so appalled I hadn't seen that either. Lucky for me it was on back to back. 6 hours of Bing Crosby's wonderful voice, I couldn't resist.

I am sure when I see It's a Wonderful Life, I will love it. Whenever that happens.

                          No surprise there.
