  • Ten worst housing markets for 2009

8 of the 10 are located in California. The projected changes are pretty big. 2009 is going to be a bad year for most.

Check back in a year, but I'm willing to go on record that I think that list is bunk.

      No Las Vegas? I agree.

There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. I'll add the qualifier that after going back and reading their methodology ("methodology collects data on single-family home re-sales, capturing re-sold sale prices to form sale pairs") that that particular index could do anything in a market where sales pairs would indicate a problem with the borrower or the home itself. I just have a hard time seeing the median home price in San Diego dropping to the low $300k, DC to $270k & Miami $225k.

I offer no opinion on how little I'd pay for the privilege of living in Fresno.

Ugh. I'm heading there this weekend. Its only three days, but that is exactly three days longer than I would like to be there.
