  • How much did the TCU loss rattle BYU?

Including the TCU game, didn't BYU go 3-3?

I'm curious to know if the loss to TCU shook BYU's confidence or if it made the Y realize that it wasn't as good as was thought. Or perhaps something else?

I only saw the 2nd half, but it looked to me that Arizona was not only better prepared for the game, but more confident in their ability. Another thing was that they seemed to be able to get to Hall rather easily. The Y's O-line is great if it's blocking big slow guys, but speed is almost impossible to handle.

Tough break, guys. And as much as you may disagree because of how it might feel, 10-3 is a very good season.

I think TCU may have exposed BYU a little--showed people how to beat them.
At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I don't think it rattled the defense. They were pretty consistently mediocre. However, it rattled Hall in a big way and anyone who could get pressure on him continued to rattle him.

I hadn't thought about BYU's defense not getting rattled. You're right, as the defense was not what BYU was really about this year.

Does Hall get rattled because he isn't mentally tough? The guy has all the physical tools he needs, but just seems to melt down when challenged.

I really don't know because he handled it so much better last year except for the two games he was slightly injured. Last year I thought one of his best games was against TCU. I am beginning to believe that my final opinion is going to be that this team has lost unity and I think that a big part of that is Hall and Collie seperating themselves to some extent. It needs to be Hall taking the offense to the IPF at 9:00 pm not Hall going with Collie.

I hadn't heard about Hall and Collie doing that. It's certainly not something a leader would do.

To be honest I thought it was the USU game that did it.

Thus he's not in the same league as McMahon, Young, Detmer. They were gamers. Hall is not even after 2 years as starter now.

The USU game was a surprise.

Glad to see you over here, friend.

C'mon Goat.. I thought Hall only serving 7 months on the mission gave him the testicular fortitude necessary to be an all time great.

I don't know if rattled is the right word, but exposed definetly is.

Hall just up and quit the mission. He wanted to play football.

                              No big deal, really.
