Good hell Ute fans why can't you start this?

Anyway, Utah looks good. That stripped ball by Misi, saved from going out of bounds and recovered was sick. Louisville is a shadow of its former C-USA self.

To those in Utah...Did local coverage give any halftime update on Asiata?

Sounds like Asiata has a knee injury...seriousness unknown.

Good first half, the D did a great job of forcing turnovers. Cain had a nice 42 yard TD pass to David Reed and then under threw a ball that lead to an INT and a Louisville score.

Yes, knee injury of some sort. He is on the sidelines in street clothes with a huge brace on his knee.

I don't get Schram's play calling sometimes (most of the time) he just doesn't seem to call plays that play to the strengths of his personnel.

Like I said last week, I think we're gonna win ugly and lose ugly, that just seems to be how this team is gonna do things.

I thought Cain looked good today. Started 8/8, and they really had a lot of plays to get him in the open field.

Wide did well. Now that he's the #1 guy, he has to work on running between the tackles. We need Shak back now more than ever. They also had Shaky in the backfield as well.

Burton looked he was out of position on a few plays, and he got called for penalties trying to catch up.

Nice special teams performance. Got the blocked fg and kicked a long fg, along with good coverage and field position.

The bye week will be good for healing bumps and bruises headed into MWC play.

I would have started this thread if I hadn't been at the game. I'll start the game thread next week, despite it being a bye.

Looked like a lot of empty seats on TV. They said it was sold out though.

Except for the corner by the student section the stadium was full by halfway through the first quarter.

Well, saying it was sold out and people being in the seats are two different things. I'll have to catch the rebroadcast of the game (if there is one) to see your perspective of empty seats. From my seats that are close to the field in the north endzone, it looked like the stadium was close to full - but my seats only give me one angle of view and there was a fairly large area of empty seats in the top at the south end of the east seats - next to the student section.

This is the first game that I have been able to watch in its entirety.

The defense finally release the hounds and flat got after the QB. They blitzed from about every position. They were in the backfield all game. They struggled with contain on a few plays including the QB run for the TD. Stanford is going to become a favorite target for opposing QB's. It seems that he is stride for stride on several of his PI calls but has poor awareness of when to turn and look for the ball and when to disengage with the receiver.
He did redeem himself some with the blocked FG.

Special teams looked quite good. Sellwood has an excellent leg punting, and I was good to see Phillips 3 for 3 with a 48 yarder. Hopefully his confidence with continue to grow.

I felt horrible for Asiata. So much promise squelched with injury. For those of you who know this stuff better, any chance he could get a 6th year?

Wide had a breakout game, but when I saw him lying on the field in the 4th, my stomach dropped. Hopefully Shak can heal up with the bye week. Smithson looked good in the backfield. He has some good size and it may be that he starts taking more plays there when we need some tough inside yards.

Cain played a good game. He can really scoot on the designed sweeps. For all the talk about him not being able to throw the deep ball, I think he has the arm. I think that he struggles with reads on the deeper patterns, and it makes him hesitant. I wonder if his troubles deal with recognition or if being shorter, he simply does not see the safeties when the play starts. It definitely looked like he didn't see the one on his pick.

They are still a work in progress, but there are plenty of bright spots to look keep me feeling encouraged. The injuries tonight were just horrid though.

Really? To me it looked sold out.

The second TD pass to Reed was right on the money and the actual yardage the ball traveled was a good 40 yards. If they are going to switch the wildcat they should do it with devonte christopher. At least with him you have the added thread of him passing,

I thought Shaky did a good job in the backfield, it'll be interesting to see if they move him to RB next year to split carries with Wide III. I really like what Wide brings to the table, he shakes tackles and doesn't go down on light contact.
